Merrell Bros., Inc. was contracted to completely clean and remove liquid sludge from the on-site sludge lagoons (1, 1A, 2). We utilized one of our hydraulic dredges to efficiently pump the sludge from the lagoon, to our on-site 18,000-gallon mix/equalization tank without disturbing or disrupting the clay liner. The material was dewatered through (2) mobile belt filter presses. We coordinated the lagoon cleaning so that there was not excess downtime between each lagoon, which was critical. We were able to assist with pumping the water off each lagoon to reach the sludge. The dewatered material was hauled to a certified landfill.
