Merrell Bros., Inc. was contracted to remove the sludge from the Coos Bay Wastewater Treatment Facility lagoon using a floating dredge equipped with a cutter-head that draws sludge from the lagoon bottom and pumps the liquid sludge through a floating pipe to our dewatering system. Dewatering was performed using (2) two mobile belt-filter presses positioned north of the primary ponds. We conveyed the dewatered sludge cake directly into end dump trailers positioned adjacent to the dewatering equipment, and the dewatered biosolids were hauled to the Coffin Butte Landfill for disposal.
