The Bible is very clear in answering this question. If you died today you would either go to Heaven or to Hell. There is no in between.  I recently saw one of the New York firefighters interviewed that survived the September 11th tragedy. When asked about his religious view on this incident his comments were that he did a lot of praying that day and "hoped" that there was a God. This really struck me hard because it is very clear in the Bible about what it takes to be guaranteed a spot in heaven. First you must believe that God is real and that his son rose from the dead. This does not mean that you hope there is a God you must truly believe it more than anything else in this world.   Having personally experienced a near death tragedy during my youth I will never forget what I felt. As my lungs were filling up and I was slowly dying I experienced fear and pain. I then experienced something I will never forget. That fear and pain quickly left my body and it turned to excitement. This excitement was in waiting to see what was next because I had accepted Jesus Christ 2 years earlier and I knew where I was going today if I died. I truly believe that the people that had accepted Jesus Christ that died in the World Trade probably felt pain initially but then that pain was removed by God and the rest was exciting as there earthly bodies were destroyed and they entered heaven. This episode keeps me excited daily as I know no matter how bad my day has been and even if I lost everything I still have one more day to look forward to and that day is going to be the best day of my life when I take my last breath on this earth.
